A group of songwriters based worldwide and at the height of their own scenes, who met through working on the Indian Rock band Skyharbor, White Moth Black Butterfly are releasing an expanded edition of their second album, Atone. Singer Daniel Tompkins began WMBB as a creative outlet aside from writing for UK progressive rock band TesseracT, indulging in his other musical influences from Massive Attack, Enigma, Sigur Ros, David Bowie, Tool, Dredg and Thrice. After growing Skyharbor as one of India's biggest rock bands with songwriter Keshav Dhar, including taking the stage with acts such as Lamb of God and Deftones, the pair collaborated on Tompkins' new contemporary pop project with progressive and experimental music at its heart.

The album was recorded across the globe at studios in India, the UK, US and Taiwan, bringing in their international roster of performers. This included the band's other writers: Randy Slaugh, the producer and string arranger for Skyharbor in the US who has also worked with Devin Townsend, Architects and Periphery; and co-singer and lyricist Jordan Turner.

Atone's "Evelyn" music video has been nominated for 2018's Progressive Music Awards' Video of the Year, and the key track in this expanded edition, "Rising Sun", has already had half a million streams – a track which has been both remixed and newly recorded for this new release. But perhaps the most eye-catching addition to this new release is the "Tempest" rework by Jon Gomm, a percussive guitarist and online sensation who has over 28 million views on YouTube. Described in Total Guitar: "Gomm’s complex fingerstyle technique and acts of rhythmic physical violence on his guitar are no mere novelty; these are exquisite arrangements, and somehow no element ever upstages another."

Masterful production - deep, slow enough and a feast for your headphones. Inspiring arrangements and soul-searching vocal performances from a vast array of styles and voices. It's a mega-album, a world of its own. Up there with all the greats of the symph-prog genre. I just can't have enough of it. I like the balance between drama and calmness - always keeps you on your toes, gasping for more peaks and highs. Bordering on perfection - almost the best thing ever done in the progressive world. The revived Big Big Train shows that you can't keep a good band down for long with a fairly easy listening, non confrontational selection of songs both traditionally long and catchingly short. if at times the acoustic guitars and sharp keyboard breaks are reminiscent of early Genesis then this is fully intended and respectful to the likes of Messrs Rutherford, Banks and Phillips. Vocal harmonies are, as expected, a delight to the ear and the whole is a big step forward from Welcome To The Planet graeme wright
